Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist & Hand Pain

Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist and Hand Pain

If you find that you suffer from shoulder pain, elbow pain or wrist pain then a visit to Young Chiropractic may help.

Some of the most common complaints and injuries we treat include :

  • rotator cuff injuries
  • tennis elbow
  • golfers elbow
  • carpal tunnel
  • general sporting injuries
  • repeptitive strain injuries from work

Shoulders, elbows and wrists, like the spine, are designed for flexibility and mobility. Like a joint in the spine, sometimes these joints become stiff or even out of alignment.

Shoulder and wrist pain can be caused by problems with the neck affecting nerves that radiate into the arm causing pain.

This can interfere with normal mobility and function and affect the function of associated ligaments and muscles.

Common symptoms associated with the arm include shoulder pain, arm pain, elbow and wrist pain.

Chiropractors also commonly see people with numbness and pins and needles in the arm which is often caused by pinching of the nerves in the neck.

This can cause significant pain or discomfort and if left untreated can cause loss of function and affect a persons ability to work or even play!.

Virtually every joint in the body can be prone to joint dysfunction that can interfere with the normal biomechanics of the body.  The extremities of the body are no exception.  Often with trauma or repetitive stress, joints such as the shoulder, elbow and wrist can exhibit pain, numbness, tingling or weakness that can lead to serious functional problems.

One such condition is carpal tunnel syndrome where nerves in the wrist can be compressed by irritated ligaments or small bone misalignments that form a tunnel in the wrist.

Chiropractic is a non-invasive effective treatment that has been shown to be effective in the management of carpal tunnel syndrome in addition to other repetitive stress or trauma injuries that affect the extremities.

Shoulder Pain

The shoulder region is influenced by structures in the neck and mid-back as well as the shoulder

Nerves from the neck travel through the bones in the spine into the arm to supply nerves, tissue and bone in the arm.

One of the most common problems associated with shoulder pain are rotator cuff injuries. This is where the rotator cuff muscle becomes damaged or even tears.

It is common that shoulder problems are caused from neck problems so it is important that both the whole spine and the shoulder are checked when being assessed.

Common symptoms include shoulder pain, decreased shoulder mobility and numbness.

At Young Chiropractic we can assess and treat shoulder injuries and pain.

Elbow Pain

If you suffer pain in or around the elbow then the chances are you may have some misalignment that if treated early enough can save you a great deal of pain and possible long term damage.

Common causes of elbow pain include repetitive strain injuries from golf, tennis or even sitting at the computer using the mouse.

Stressors of competitive sport can take a toll on the function of joints and muscles and it is important that these joints are cared for properly.

Chiropractors can help assess and treat these injuries.

Even poor technique can aggravate and even cause a joint to become stressed or misaligned.

Hand & Wrist Pain

Without the full function of our hands and wrists the daily tasks we take for granted can suddenly be taken from us.

Common complaints include:

  • carpal tunnel
  • pins and needles in the hand
  • joint stiffness

While some problems may be associated with the misalignment of bones in the wrist pinching nerves, some of the symptoms may be coming from the elbow, shoulder or even spine. At Young Chiropractic we will be able to help you.
