Stress
There are many different stresses that affect how your body is functioning.
Your body can manages stress by changing hormone levels, biochemistry within the body as well changing muscle and ligament tone. The physiological changes associated with acute stress response are necessary for survival in a stressful environment. (Fight or Flight response)
However our bodies are not meant to be under chronic stress.
Not all stress is bad and the stress reaction to exercising for a 20 year old is going to be a different reaction for a 75 year old.
A misalignment in the body can be the result of repetitive stress in the body.
Types of Stress
There are three typical stresses in which can result in misalignment of the spine
Physical stress
- Stress caused by repetitive motion including painting a ceiling or a car
- Postural distortions from sitting at a computer
- Sleeping in a bad position
- Trauma such a car accidents,
- Slips and falls
- or even the birthing process
Chemical stress
Exposure to chemicals, drugs, preservatives, tobacco, alcohol, pollen and a variety of other substances can affect our nervous system and muscle tone that can cause subluxation or misalignment of the spine.
Mental Stress
Mental stress, including work stress and emotional stress can cause changes to posture, muscle tone and the optimum function of our nervous system
